1009 big-bird
This article is brought to you by the letter P … as in Sesame Street is PISSED that Barack Obama used Big Birdin an anti-Romney attack ad without permission! In case you haven’t seen it … Team Obama released the ad (video below) following the debate, in which they mock Mitt Romney‘s vow to cut off government funding to PBS. The ad portrays Big Bird as an enemy of America who towered over criminals like Bernie Madoff and Ken Lay.

But Big Bird isn’t laughing … and neither is Ernie, Bert, Oscar or Elmo (and that dude laughs at EVERYTHING) … claiming Team Obama never asked for permission before using the Sesame Street character.

In fact, Sesame Workshop released a statement saying, “We have approved no campaign ads, and as is our general practice, have requested that the ad be taken down.”

SW also explains, “Sesame Workshop is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization and we do not endorse candidates or participate in political campaigns.”

Obama’s camp says they have heard Sesame Street’s complaints and will be reviewing SS’s concerns.

Romney Disses Little Kids Over Nickelodeon Prez Show

President Obama‘s peeps say Mitt Romney is gonna be sorry for blowing off a bunch of kids who participated in the Nickelodeon show, “Kids Pick the President.”

The premise of the show — kids submit questions to each candidate and based on the answers they make their pick for leader of the free world.

Obama answered the kids’ questions, but Romney said he didn’t have the time.

Deputy National Press Secretary Adam Fetcher said “It’s no surprise Romney decided to play hookey. Kids demand details, and I’m sure they want some answers on why Romney could increase their class sizes, eliminate their teacher’s jobs, raise taxes on their families and slash funding for Big Bird.”

Fetcher ends with this zinger: “‘The dog ate my homework’ just doesn’t cut it when you’re running for President.”

Christina Aguilera, Hillary Clinton: BUSTED!

Christina Aguilera hillary clinton

Christina Aguilera took a trip to the U.S. Department of State in the nation’s capitol. The singer/World Food Programme ambassador was one of the recipients of the George McGovern Leadership Award for her efforts in the fight against global hunger. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton presented Aguilera with the honor, but appears to have have become a bit distracted by Xtina’s sample assets — decidedly and not surprisingly on display — during the ceremony.

New Music Adele – Skyfall Snippet and Artwork

The song was composed by Adele and producer Paul Epworth, who also arranged the track with film composer J.A.C. Redford. Adele is also backed by a 77 piece orchestra.

“I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for ‘Skyfall’”, stated Adele. ‘There’s a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song but I fell in love with the script, and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no brainer to do it in the end.”

“It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief,” Adele continued, “something I’ve never done which made it exciting. When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I’ll be back combing my hair when I’m 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day I’m sure!”

The song will make it’s worldwide debut via her official website on Friday, Oct. 5 at 4 p.m. PT / Friday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. ET / Saturday, Oct. 6 at 12 a.m. BST.

American Express to Refund $85 Million

American Express will reimburse $85 million to about 250,000 customers to resolve accusations that the company violated federal law in its marketing, billing and debt collection practices, the company and the government said Monday.

The settlement is the latest in a series of enforcement actions that federal and state regulators have brought against some of the nation’s largest financial institutions for problems in their credit card businesses.

The multiagency investigation of American Express included the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Utah Department of Financial Institutions. They discovered problems in three American Express subsidiaries between 2003 and 2012 that ranged from the way the company advertised its cards to how it pursued customers behind on their bills.

The violations of consumer protection laws started “from the moment a consumer shopped for a card to the moment the consumer got a phone call about long overdue debt,” Richard Cordray, the director of the consumer protection bureau, said in a statement.

To win customers for its “Blue Sky” travel reward credit card program, the lender sometimes offered them a $300 reward, which never materialized, the regulators said. In doling out credit, they said, American Express also discriminated against applicants based on their age. The company also duped consumers into paying off stale credit card debt with the promise of improving their credit score, the investigators said; in fact, regulators found, American Express was not reporting the payments to the credit bureaus at all.

The three subsidiaries involved in the agreement are American Express Centurion Bank, American Express Travel Related Services Company, and American Express Bank FSB.

American Express customers should expect refunds by March 2013, regulators said. The company also agreed to pay $27.5 million in fines to the regulators.

Miss Universe 2012 To Be Held in Las Vegas in December & Miss Bahamas Universe says She’s READY

This year’s Miss Universe pageant will be held in Las Vegas and not in the Dominican Republic as previously considered.

Miss Universe organization president Paula Shugart tells The Associated Press that too many obstacles have arisen for holding the event in the Dominican Republic’s popular tourist city of Punta Cana. Shugart says the main obstacle is the Caribbean country’s financial crisis.

Wednesday’s announcement comes two weeks after the Dominican government said it could not afford the $6 million in financial assistance that event organizers had requested.

Shugart says the event would have attracted many tourists to the Dominican Republic, noting that is a priority of newly elected President Danilo Medina.

The pageant is set for Wednesday December 19th. Yet while the international pageant itself has been dealing with their evident issues, the Miss Bahamas Organization has found great comfort in their newest national title holder “Miss Universe Bahamas – Celeste Marshall”. This 19 year old stunner from the capital city of Nassau, in the Bahamas has been receiving great reviews from the international pageant world and blogesphere noting her as “The BEST” candidate coming out of the Bahamas in what might be over 10 years.

Celeste stands statuesquely at 5’11.5″ tall and holds as one of her greatest strengths runway skills that makes her seem to be floating on air.

When I asked Celeste about her upcoming participation in Miss Universe and how she feels now that the date and venue is set, this is what she had to say:

“I am very excited to have won the opportunity to represent my country at Miss Universe. I am actually still somewhat in shock that I am now Miss Universe Bahamas (giggles)! I have always wanted to do great things and I am working hard, training and studying to ensure that I make the best of this opportunity to do just that. When my Organization president gave me the news that the official date and venue had been announced, I felt a relief and I have been smiling ever since. I am ready…so look for me pageant fans…I am coming to Vegas!”

We here at krakDaily join in with the rest of  the Bahamas in rooting for Celeste as she competes this year, and we know she will do extremely well. Good luck Celeste!
